Document Summary

Photochemical reacions: a chemical reacion that is induced by light: photons and be thought of as reacions. Example: the producion of ozone (o3) from oxygen (o2) molecules. In 1913 neils bohr postulate that for a hydrogen atom. Applies to hydrogen like species (only has one electron) Quantum numbers: are integral numbers whose values must be speciied in order to solve equaions of wave mechanics. Three diferent quantum numbers are required: the principal quantum number, n; the orbital angular momentum number, l; and the magneic number, ml. The permited values of these numbers are interrelated. Radii allowed orbits in hydrogen: bohr theory predicts. Energy level diagrams: when a free electron is atracted to the nucleus and conined to the orbit, n, the electron energy is negaive, and given by: Ground state: the lowest energy state for the electrons in an atom or molecule.
