Document Summary

Birds have 4 different kinds of cone cells. Humans: short wavelength, middle wavelength cone and long wavelength cone. If you stimulate them you see the colour. If you stimulate both you see an in-between colour. Can see purple, which is a non spectral colour. Birds: can see different kinds of spectal colour, they can see 3 different kinds of purple. Their perception of the magnetic field is correlated to their cones. Birds perceive magnetic field of earth like a visual thing. The importance, the way that animals perceive that world around them is very different than the way we do. Humans are great apes are very different than other primates. We perceive colour very different than they do. Our perception of sound and sight is different than that of animals. This leads us to say, what motivates an animal to do something. We have no idea of feelings and emotions of animals.
