Document Summary

Tend to coalesce with each other in water. Water molecules tend to exclude molecules that disrupt hydrogen bonding. Hydrophobic interacions are a major driving force in folding of molecules (like proteins), assembly of cellular structures, and membrane organizaion. Membrane not dissolved in water or it wouldn"t be a structure. Doesn"t dissolve in water since its made of phospholipids. Hydrophobic region and hydrophilic region are both in an amphipathic. Unicellular organisms consist of a single cell. Mulicellular organisms can have specialized cells for diferent funcions, but cells have same basic structure. There are over 200 diferent cell types in the human body. Cells compose organisms or can be organisms. All organisms are composed of one or more cells. Cells are the basic structural and funcional unit of life. Large cells have less surface area per unit volume. Large cells are less capable of transporing materials across the plasma membrane. The volume of the cell determines the biochemical capacity of the cell.
