Document Summary

Dna is enclosed in a nucleus in eukaryotes but not in prokaryotes. Biological evoluion: changes in dna sequences over ime. Natural selecion: occurs when the likelihood of individuals with certain traits surviving and reproducing is higher than those with other traits, and the genes that encode for those traits are passed on from parent to parent to ofspring. Geneic drit: random process that determines which individuals survive to reproduce and pass on their dna. Microevoluion: through ime, mechanics result in altered gene frequencies within populaions. Macroevoluion: occurs over longer ime scales, led to reproducive isolaion. Long, ladder-like strands containing sequenial arrangements of four nucleoides. Metabolism: all chemical reacions occurring within an organism. Mater: deined as anything that occupies mass and space. Organic molecules: compounds that contain carbon and hydrogen atoms and may include other types of atoms. Producers: organisms that are able to convert co2 into organic molecules.
