Canadian population was #1 in the world for a long time, we are now about 2nd now. But aboriginals rank 19 if they were a population on their own. Less than 1% of students in university are aboriginals. Department of indian affairs the head of the department isn"t even indian. Canadian government thought they were responsible for taking. Children taken from homes by the government and went into schools run by the churches. Lot of physical violence, sexual abuse, lot of children who died at diminished and eventually completely removed the school, they were doing work more than learning. Students: were discouraged from speaking their first language or, lived in substandard conditions practising native traditions (forbidden to do potlatch) Not a lot of food to eat, or good food: endured physical, emotional and sexual abuse. There has been some law suits, a few years ago the government officially apologized life: rarely had opportunities to see examples of normal family.
