Morality the process of moral development (video) Children as young as 4 years old can differentiate between justice and convention. As children grow or develop they create their own moral understandings (piaget"s constructivist view) As we just saw in this video, morality is understood in terms of justice, rather than convention. That is rather than the strict adherence to culturally sanctioned norms and values. According to piaget, mental structures are constructed by the individual as a result of the i(cid:374)di(cid:448)idual"s i(cid:374)tera(cid:272)tio(cid:374) (cid:449)ith the social environment. Persons are more generally actively involved in the construction of their knowledge, in the textbook this is referred to as the process of adaptation. For piaget, form acting on content = knowledge. What he is doing here is differentiating between form and content. Just memorizing things for piaget is not knowledge because there is no formal things acting on it. Piaget"s primary interest was to investigate the cognitive thought structures that underlie over responses.
