State of complete physical, mental and social well being. Life expectancy of the average lifetime of people born in a specific yea relatively easy to measure. Women = 83. 3 years and men = 78. 8 years (2007-9) Canadians live 3 years longer than americans. Number of deaths of infants under one year of age per 1000 live births. Important as infant mortality rate indicates a society"s level of preventive medical care, nutrition, childcare and care for infants. Illnesses that strike suddenly and cause dramatic incapacitation and sometimes death. Common in canada chicken pox and strains of influenza. Illness that are long term or lifelong and that develop gradually or are present from birth. Groups that promote illness causing behaviour and social conditions (such as smoking) Females have longer life expectancies then males. Higher rates of female"s report having arthritis and pain preventing activities then males. Higher rates of male"s report being overweight then females.
