Schools endow young people with the key capacities of communication, coordination. Create homogeneity & cultural homogeneity out of diversity by instructing all students in uniform curriculum this creates cultural cohesion between provinces (ie: standardized testing. Sort students into paths that terminate in different social classes conflict theory point of view. The education system has displaced organized religion as the main purveyor of formal knowledge. Second in importance only to the family as an agent of socialization. Universal mass education is a recent phenomenon & is limited to relatively wealthy countries. Uniform socialization; everyone is socialized in a similar way with similar standards. Unemployment rate by highest level of education completed. To be included in an unemployment rate, you must be unemployed & must state that you are looking for work. There is more of a polarization in work, either its specialized & taken by university/college students. Or its deskilled & taken by those holding only a high school diploma.
