Sociology of the body: disability, aging and death. First, sociologists are interested in how the body is marked so it can be socially regulated. Social institutions always made demands on bodily appearance as a means of exerting social control. A second reason why sociologists of the human body are drawn to studying drone warfare relates to the issue of embodiment. Embodiment refers to the physical and mental experience of existence. A body is not just something that one has; it is also something that one is. There is a third way in which drone warfare captures the interest of those who think about the body sociologically. A cyborg (short for cybernetic organism) is an entity that embodies elements both living and dead, human and machine, natural, and unnatural. The body and social status: a feminist interpretation. The body, disabilities, aging an death mean different things and have different consequences for different societies.
