Chlamydamonas has two identical gametes of two types (+ & -: the parker model of anisogamy. Isogamy is unstable due to disruptive selection patterns producing bimodal (anisogamous) patterns: selective advantage for reducing investment in each gamete. Increases risk of predation: darwin"s theory of sexual selection helps explain ornamental displays, larger, more vibrant ornamental displays are more attractive to mates providing a massive reproductive advantage, there are two kinds of sexual selection.
