They must know something i don"t know": doing as others do; Situations which are most likely to produce conformity due to informational social in uence include: ambiguous or confusing situations, crisis situations, when other people are experts. Normative in uence: desire to gain rewards, avoid punishments, and follow social norms. Social norms: rules about what behaviour is acceptable or typical (descriptive, injunctive) We learn the rules by following others conformity. Wanting to t in and be liked, and not disliked.
