Some organizations do it well, some don"t. Following are characteristics that define groups and teams. In addition to being a group a team has a common goal: Sole objective with trying to improve quality. Individual behaviour can be influenced by the presence of others. Particularly relevant in ob especially when dealing with teams. E. g. meet but not exceed performance standards, absence culture. Based on our powerful need to belong and be accepted. More likely to see compliance to prescriptive norms than descriptive norms. Ss participated in a study that they thought was about pereptual judgements. Greeted by lab and made to believe they were last person to enter. See a line and indicate which line as same lenth as stimulus one. Multiple triers and all confederates say the same thing so the participant does the same even if its wrong. 2/3 of participants conformed at least once, 1/3 conformed consistently.
