Self-schemas: an organized body of knowledge about the self (attitudes, traits, preferences) that in uences what people notice, think about and remember about themselves. Self-reference effect: the tendency for people to remember information better if they relate it to themselves. Self-concept clarity: the extent to which knowledge about the self is stable, and clearly and consistently de ned. Desire to see ourselves in a positive light can in uence what past events we remember best. High if it is held with certainty and perceived to be consistent and stable. Low (self-concept confusion) not knowing who we are.
