Basic research is more about how stuff works, how can we predict behavior, what mechanisms drive this behavior, etc. Applied research uses theoretical ideas to try and solve real issues in the real world. Sort of like an end point for basic research. Hindsight bias is where someone will generate a finding and you"ll say, like, "i could have told you that: The idea that people overestimate their ability to predict an outcome after it already occurred. Theories are overarching ideas about how we think things work. Hypotheses are the things we are actually working with in experiments. Operationalization of a hypothesis refers to making a very precise specification of how and what variables are being measured and/or manipulated. Theorized that people of higher socio-economic status are more likely to feel more entitled, greedy, less personable, essentially more of assholes or jerks. They designed a level field study in the real world (observational study, not an experiment)
