More ethically responsible, more available: e. g. think about being in a room full of snakes. Replace cr of fear with a more pleasant response. Pair the feared object (low) with the positive ucs-ucr. Systematic desensitization (wolpe 1958) > most common treatment. Gradually increase intensity of the feared object ( picture > stuffed object. > real fear) (cid:498)feared(cid:499) object now results in a positive cr. Client images even more fearful situation; receives cue > building up.
