There are three principal functions associated with governance. Absolute monarchs: they are state and can do whatever they want. Formal executive consists of the monarch, currently queen elizabeth ii and her representative in canada, the governor general who is currently david johnston, its actually. Powers of monarch collapsed but not extinguished. The executive branch is empowered through the crown. In canada, legally the crown is the source of sovereignty. The prerogative power is the crown in the power to choose. The queen is not the crown, she is the representative. Has multiple meanings and is used in many senses such as : Powers of monarch that are deployed by her advisors (ex: crown prerogative) The government in court (ex: crown prosecutor) We have one federal crown and 10 provincial crowns. Gave every level of government a chuck of sovereign power. Head of state: permanent part of government.
