Document Summary

As a duty to the fourth estate, the media have a duty to be objective. Rorty believes media as a form of propaganda. Reduce all forms of journalism to form of propaganda. Rorty is trying to undermine a traditional account of objectivity and truth. Said to be true if it captures the way the world is. Rorty tries to undermine and rejects it. He suggests ultimately, that"s not the way it is. Many people reject that news captures things as they are. But more people agree some reports capture the way it is better than others. Truth is made there is no truth out there. No neutral stand by means of which one can rationally adjudicate interpretations. There"s no way of getting to the way the world really is. We see the world through conceptual framework and view the world through interpretation. No way to decide which interpretation is the truth.
