22 views3 pages

Document Summary

The upshot of the argument: it is in the nature of something than which nothing greater can be conceived that it exists (necessarily) God is something than which nothing greater can be conceived ( stwngcbc") When we use the word god, we refer to that sentence. Says its greater to exist in reality than to exist in an idea. Stwngcbc cannot exist only in the understanding, because then something greater than it would exist, ie that which also exists in reality. If it only existed in the understanding, it wouldn"t be greater than which nothing greater can be conceived, therefore it must exist in reality as well. The fool has said in his there there is no god (psalms 14:1 53:1) The fool still has an understanding in his heart of god. There are two ways to say something in one"s heart. *you can just mention the words or you can really believe it.
