Lifetime prevalence of asthma in canadian children has been estimated at 11% to 16% > 9% of children with asthma had made at least one ed visit in the past two years. Exacerbations accounted for 3% to 7% of all pediatric ed visits. > 50% of children who present to the ed with an asthma exacerbation are preschool age (<5 years) Increased numbers pollution, sterile environment, better diagnosis. Can be associated with gastroesophageal disorders as well. Peak in september, and spring (17. 7 days after start of school) Viruses crona virus (common cold), rhino, flu, rsv. Sdoh income (housing, meds) access to health services, education, Adventitious sounds: wheezing, moderate to audible without steth, decreased airway entry to bases.
