Hope/caring: concept is another word for idea, definitions are needed to help convey the meaning of a concept, assumptions are statements that can describe some concepts or connect them. Typically assumptions in a theory help describe the values and beliefs/gals of the theory. Nursing theory helps to define and enrich our practice and gives us focus on things that are essential in order to provide care. It is important to create knowledge that is unique to nursing. Organizes and helps us use it in a professional way. Explains, describes, predict and prescribes care nursing care. A theory helps us with assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of our practice. Theories continue to guide research about our practice. Based on a theory, we can choose a way to analyze data on a client, which guides us what to next. A theory is like an internal compass that a nurse can use to guide their practice.
