Generational digital natives have grown up surrounded by the internet and digital media. The origins of the internet derive from a network of networks composed of computers linked together by cables, satellites, etc. Originated in the early 1970"s as a part of us military nuclear war planning and research. Was a state funded project by the government. Intended as a command and control mode of communication to connect us missile bases in event of a soviet russian war attack. Students & instructors at top us research institutes, known as the first hackers , link up universities and other virtual communities. Used to be classified as something of geek culture used solely by scientific personnel. Nowadays hackers have a negative connotation, back then they referred to the real constructors of the internet as we know it today. Became a way for scientists to share results and counter-cultural adopters. Began as solely text-based, non-commercial with no ads.
