The female character in lm narrative is: an erotic object for the characters within the narrative to view, an erotic object for the spectators in the cinema to view. The audience watches from the point of view of male, heterosexual desire. Women view from a secondary perspective through male eyes. Has hollywood chanced its representation of women. It has to have at least two (named) women in it. 1: who talk to each other, about something besides a man. Doesn"t asses whether a movie is good or bad. Doesn"t take account of the kinds or roles played by female characters. Focuses entirely on female inclusivity, not other types of discrimination. But doesn"t provide a rough and ready, easy to apply snapshots of the gender dynamics in movies. Mako mori test: at least one female character, who has her own narrative arc, which does not exist to support the narrative arc of a male character.
