Legal obligation of confidentiality is the obligation not to willingly disclose information obtained in confidence from an individual without their consent. However, disclosure may be required by search warrants, mandatory reporting professionals owe an obligation to their patients, even if no mention of the issue. Obligation applies to anything patients disclose about themselves or others, and to patient information received from another health professional obligations, etc.
