Document Summary

Biomechanics assignment 2: during this exercise, i did experience some discomfort. This phenomenon is known as passive insufficiency: functional differences between the three types of muscle fibres, slow twitch, oxidative (so) contract slowly and produce a small amount of force, however they are very fatigue resistant. These fibres use the glycolytic storages inside the muscle, however these get used up really fast and thus these fibres run out of energy really quickly: relative fibre type proportions in the muscles of various athletes: When gto"s become stretched they will inhibit contraction of their tense host muscle and facilitate muscular contraction of the antagonist muscle. A sport specific example could be while doing a bicep curl with a overly heavy weight. Your gto will sense the tension in your bicep, it will inhibit further contraction of your bicep, then it will activate contraction in your antagonist muscle (tricep), which causes you to release the weight curl.
