Superior retina has a higher density of ganglion cells then inferior. Upper part of eye has more ganglion cells then the lower part of the eye. Has a functional concept in how we move. Example, when typing, we look down at the key pad, information in the lower visual field is getting communicated to the superior hemi retina. Stuff in your upper hemi field gets projected into your lower hemi retina. It s said that you do this for cognitive tasks. Example, 7 x 82, you will see people move there eyes upwards. People think that we do this because of cognition, and that we are trying to access our upper visual field: experiment. Participants try and fixate at either a low or high target.
