3 causes that they fought for or against: 1. White middle class people were seen as fit, and people who were not white middle class and protestant were seen as unfit. Yes/ they were also manipulators who wanted social control. They also wanted to impose white middle class values on working class and immigrants. Also racist and classist bigots who were interested in protecting themselves. These 3 main social issues were a response by these reformers and a reaction to the feat they had about all of the ugliness around them. Anthony comstock took this to a whole new level. It was also the items such as birth control and abortion drugs going through the mails (pills) or diaphragms that were circulated through the mail, or even condoms. Even if it was distributed by a company or passed off by a person to another person was seen as sexually explicit.
