History 1401E Lecture Notes - Lecture 19: On The Cult Of Personality And Its Consequences, Nikita Khrushchev

22 views1 pages

Document Summary

Stalin had a tendency to place himself above everyone else, sort of like an ubermensch figure (superman), so after his death, the ideology of one man being above another was banned. This was a tad controversial because, as a communist, you are to believe that classes do not exist and no man is better than another. Stalin demonstrated hypocrisy in this aspect, showing infallibility on one hand while practicing hypocritical beliefs on the other. Many cases of criminal offences were fabricated, and many of the people that were so unfortunate to have landed themselves in these situations were put to death. Overall, khrushchev blamed many murderous crimes on josef stalin. In destroying the cult of stalin, khrushchev was dealing a fatal blow to not only his opponents, but possibly to himself, as the cult of stalin would disagree with his beliefs and therefore he would lose votes.
