Trace- outline something, journey, look for signs of a person thats left. Caring about the past- half to care about characters and events in the book. Empathy- making someone a part of with yourself. Capacity to reach another human being by taking yourself out of yourself and putting yourself into someone else. Sadness, loss, and grief must be cared for. Grief is what allows us to reach across time and experience what everyone else has experience.
