Film: the egyptians were depicted very primitive like with lots of religious and traditional symbolism (chanting, smoke, rituals). As well, it was weird that cleopatra had super short hair, but makes sense as they were always wearing wigs. This was mainly how the romans perceived the egyptians. After caesar left egypt, he went on the syria and the east (zela) in 47-46 bce and conquered: the phrase veni vidi vici means i came, i saw, i conquered because his victory was so swift. In 47 bce, he was renamed dictator and was elected consul even though he was abroad. In 46 bce, he was made dictator for 10 years. Note that caesar was not blinded by infatuation for cleopatra, unlike mark antony who marries her. Cleopatra was in rome from 46-april 44 bce for a trip that was not necessary as she was not a suppliant or a hostage.
