Rome and it becomes a counterpoint to the high population density of these large ancient cities: nature can be depicted and also mythological figures. Slide: mithras (a persian god) slaying a bull; mithras is interesting for roman religion. We have little evidence and detail regarding this cult. Roman world, there are archaeological sites that are places of worship for. There is a theory that argues that there is astrological symbolism in this cult. A pervasive image of mithras is shown on this slide.
