Irrefutable in biology (incredibly powerful evidence for this) It"s simply the hypothesis that modern-day mitochondria and chloroplasts are descendants from free-living bacteria cells that got engulfed. The process that led to the modern-day chloroplast is the same as for the mitochondrion. A division of microorganisms that are related to the bacteria but are capable of photosynthesis. They are prokaryotic and represent the earliest known form of life on the earth cyan = dark blue colour. Explain the meaning of endosymbiosis, cyanobacteria, and lateral gene transfer. Refers to the transfer of genes between organisms in a manner other than traditional reproduction. Genes from the mitochondrion and chloroplasts (once engulfed) moved to the nucleus, over evolutionary time. It contrasts with vertical transfer, the transmission of genes from the parental generation to offspring via sexual or asexual reproduction.
