Evolution happens: allele frequencies in a population change through generations (by natural selection, ex: hiv populations develop resistance to vaccines overtime. All life is related through common ancestry: homologous traits, everything can be traced back to the same ancestor, life on earth is a branching process (speciation happens) Monday, september 19, 2016: populations evolve, individuals do not, changes only get passed on if it is within one"s genotype, therefore, individuals cannot evolve, since it only changes its phenotype throughout its life (lammarck"s theory is wrong) Small changes b/w generations > leads to completely diff. forms b/w ancient & modern species. Darwin proposes that it is due to natural selection: certain forms provide survival advantage given the environment.
