* gastrulation= rearranging cells, in drosophila its sycncitial development ie you ace lots of cells around the outside of the egg, each one has different maternal determinants so each cell can do different things. Things such as morphagens (can do different things at different conc gradients). * similarly if cells had different signalling molecules communicating with other different types of cells results in the formation of many different cell types. * frog gastrulaiton is complicated, chick gastrulation is a little complicated. So all we are showing is different movements and inductions. One of the complications of mammalian gastrulation is extra embryonic tissue. The first thing mmamalian embryo has to do, is to provide tissue to latch onto placenta. * chick gastrulation however is similar to mammalian but not as complicated cus its all contained in an egg, and not dealing with a uterous. It does have an amniotic sac (similar to placenta).
