Most gm crops today are engineered to resist herbicides, others to resist insects: resist herbicides roundup ready crops, resist insects bt crops. Roundup ready crops: monsanto corporation produces particular type of herbicide called glyphosate (roundup, roundup interferes w particular plant biochemical pathway. So plants can still produce aas and plant will be healthy. Can spray to get rid of weeds, but not affect the crop you"re trying to grow. The same meta-analysis found that adoption of gmo crops: reduced chemical pesticide use by 37% The meta-analysis also found that: benefits (yield gains and pesticide reductions) were larger for insect-resistant bt crops than for herbicide-tolerant crops. But pesticide resistance is still an issue. This evolutionary process still happens when we"re dealing with genetically engineered resistance.
