Anatomy and Cell Biology 3319 Lecture 24: 3rd Quarter Notes
Document Summary
Acb lecture 24 (2) muscles of the upper limb: the shoulder and arm. Movements of the arm at the shoulder joint: flexion/extension, adduction/abduction, medial rotation/lateral rotation in relation to rotator cuff muscles, circumduction make a cone with your upper limb, combination of flexion, extension, adduction, and abduction. Head of the radius articulates w the capitulum. Proximal end of ulna articulates w the trochlea, through the olecranon process. This joint allows flexion and extension at the elbow. Positions of radius and ulna during pronation vs. supination. Can pronate the hand by movements of he bones of the forearm. In anatomical position, hand is the supine position (bowl of soup) If you pronate, you pull the thumb medially, so palms are facing backwards. Result, bones that were parallel, now form an x shape. In anatomical position, (anterior view), start with most lateral bone of proximal row and move medially; repeat for distal row.
