Anatomy and Cell Biology 2221 Lecture Notes - Lecture 14: Common Hepatic Artery, Coronary Ligament, Duodenum
Document Summary
Organ critical for digestion but not part of alimentary (liver, gallbladder, pancreas) Liver: produce/secrete bile, receives substances absorb by intestines through portal largest, covered by diaphragm & peritoneum circulation, process/store nutrients. glucose (controls when to put in blood) Detox, breakdown old rbcs & produce blood proteins. Falciform ligament: separate lobes which connect liver to anterior abdominal wall. Triangular ligaments: formed at left/right angles of coronary ligament. Bare area of liver: bound by coronary ligament, not cover by peritoneum. Caudate lobe: b/w ifv and venous ligament of liver. Porta hepatis: where portal traid enter/exit liver: hepatic artery: supply oxygenated blood to liver, hepatic portal vein: nutrient rich blood from intestine to liver, common hepatic duct: carry bile away from liver to duodenum. Histology: small branches of portal traid organized around hexagon lobules surround central vein. Hepatocytes: radiate from central vein, plates of liver cells.
