Mediating - something that connects 2 variables, ex: dealing of responsibility. Operational de nitions: de nition in terms of the technique the researcher uses to measure/manipulate. Problems: leave characteristics out, add extra characteristics, de nitions can impact conclusions. Validity: measuring what it is intending to measure. Face validity: appears to measure what it"s meant to measure, no expertise needed. Correlates with other measures of the construct, need establishes measures and/or expertise to check. (bth convergent and divergent are ways to measure construct validity)
