Contraception outside of canada: in 2007 a total of 721 million women worldwide were using a contraceptive method. Types of contraception: barrier methods: condoms, cervical caps, diaphragms, internal (female) and external (male) condoms, internal condoms are inserted into the vagina/anus. The following steps are how to use one of them: take it out of packing. With perfect use around 82%; typical 73-74: hormonal methods: pill, patch, ring, shot, emergency contraception, birth control pill contain either only progestin or both progestin and estrogen and work in slightly di erent ways depending. They do not contain any hormones but act as a reminder to take a pill every day: progestin only pill is take every day with no placebo pills. Best used within 24 hours and must be taken within 72 hours. Usually about 70% e ective: abstinence: not having sex at all. Illegal (back-alley) abortions were often performed in unsanitary conditions and produced many complications including death.
