Today we will have a debate, and then she is going to show a brief film related to privacy that presents. Then we will have a lecture on how advances in technology are changing our understandings of what should be legal and what should be moral around technology. You will see some overlapping themes between this week and next week. The pro side is arguing that we need stringent privacy regulations at the international level. Canadian policies have to be adapted to ensure rights are not infringed. Government surveillance is a violation against the public sphere. The con side is arguing that as a developing country, applying generalized international standards of privacy regulation is not fitting for their unique situation because they are dealing with incredible security issues. They represent a victim"s advocacy group in uganda. The rigidity of the provisions jeopardize the lives of people in uganda.
