Document Summary

Common definition of feminism: equality among sexes, to be treated equally. Each time in the process of writing i find myself confronted by discoveries which make me rethink ideas i started off with. sashi deshpandi. Interrogating feminism: reasons why women didn"t want to be labeled feminists. Most of society thinks a family needs a mom and dad but this isn"t true and feminists don"t just critique the heteronormative nuclear family. They want equality in the family unit across all disciplines, gender, sexuality, economic class, polygamous, etc. Family isn"t just related to the biological aspects, whole communities can raise families. Example included the community with open sexual relationships. They loved all children, the biological make-up of the child did not matter. Patriarchal dividends" are the benefits males receive from the male power and authority in the western world yet, not all men fit into the definition of the normal man. We need to realize gender doesn"t tell the whole story.
