When we understand what arises between the readers and the text, we can apply the genre. Reading: dominate media has been visual info through books but changing currently. Reading: important for understanding how the media works. Not much a diff between alice in the wonderland or big bang theory. Narrative of "myself" comes from the place of story/reading in our culture. Where will we be without story? (manguel reading) Story is important (eg. accounts of wars) Is reading just open a book? or there are technically ideas that are included in the book. *keep our minds open when it comes to reading. There is an "i" in this book. He is also integrating his own memories/landscape. He is demonstrating his own theory of reading; it is shaping how he is; person narrative is coming out too. Even though there is title/chapter: it might take him awhile to get to his point. The medieval, reading and speaking are both reading.
