Social movements: group attempts (non authorities) to alter some or all aspects of society (political or economic institutions), exists everywhere. No social movement is motivated by the level of inequality in society. Authorities: people who occupy the command posts of institutions. Power: ability of an individual or group to impose its will on others even if they resist. Normal politics: politics as it is practised when authorities are firmly in power. Various type of force by authorities is a sign of weakness. They should not use force to impose their will because most people agree with their policies. The ultimate seat of power in society is the state: a set of institutions that carry out a countries" laws, policies, and regulations. Civil society: the private sphere of life, exercise control over the state through a variety of organizations and institutions. An interpretation of the relationship between state and civil society.
