Trans: people are individuals whose gender identity or gender expression does not line up with their assigned sex. One can be a trans man, trans woman, or bigender, pangender, or agender. Cisgender: people whose gender identity matches their assigned sex. Gender: the culturally and socially constructed differences between females and males found in the meanings, beliefs, and practices associated with femininity and. Named for american cartoonist alison bechdel who invented it in the 1980"s, the rating is a standard applied to movies. Three criteria for a movie to pass this test: two named female characters, who talk to each other, about something other than a man. Very few hollywood movies pass this test. Contemporary gender relations are complex- be wary of simplistic slogans.
