Document Summary
Power: if they resist: power is the ability of an individual or group to impose its will on others, even, raw power becomes a legitimate authority if widely recognized as a legitimate or valid under some circumstances. People who occupied the command posts of institutions are than generally seen as authorities don"t however, power flows to nona sorties. This situation undermines the legitimacy of authority. They may riot, petition, strike, demonstrate, and establish pressure groups, unions, and political parties (organizations that seek to control state power) to achieve their aims. Paradoxically, the use of force by authorities is a sign of their weakness; are truly in a position of strength there will be widely recognized as legitimate. They will not use-to-use force to impose their will because most people agree with their policies. Here, politics will be routine, nonviolent, or normal. Power is exercised in all social settings, from the family to the classroom to the workplace.
