Status is more permeable, transcends spaces you don"t get to decide whether or not people portray your gender: same as race. Just because she didn"t identity as a black women doesn"t meant that other people were perceiving her as a black women. Identification displays: length of hair, clothes, facial hair, mannerisms how you carry yourself, pitch of voice, these are all very unreliable.
