Like anything else about us, the circumstance of living in society makes an enormous amount of difference to our bodies. External component consisting of pressures to act and look a certain way, affecting decisions to be like exemplar. Judgement pass on bodies that don"t look like the standard. Cosmetic surgery to transform body into something that somebody wants. Different cultures have differences in clothing and acceptable facial hair. First glance on bodies is determined by genes we inherited, but social environment impacts too (ie. height and weight) > societal pressures pushes us to turn our bodies into an acceptable condition. Failure to comply can lead to shameful feelings. Body is site of pleasure > we find an industry that prompts us to seek sensation: film, soaps, glossy magazines. For example, eating and drinking are social occasions that may include pleasure.
