Document Summary

Human can see 4 basic colors: red, green yellow blue. Visible light is part of electromagnetic spectrum: 400 (violet) - 700 (red) nm. White light: composed of electromagnetic energy at different wavelengths, a glass prism cuases light of different wavelengths to refract differently. Chromatic aberration: blue wavelengths refracted more (blue tint around objects, pigmentation in retina is slightly yeloow to make up for this. Pure color: monochrmotic/ spectral, colours that are created by a single wavelength. Objects absorb some wavelength and re ect others: objects are not coloured. Selective re ection: re ects some wavelengths of spectrum more than others, absorption spectrum. Re ectance curve: % of light vs wavelength. Tomato re ects a range of wavelengths but selectively re ect more in one part of spectrum. Selective transmission: transparent obejects, only some wavelendths pass thorugh the object. Achromatic colour: white, black grey, re ect all wavelength equally, re ect amount of light differently.
