Traits: we typically use personality characteristics to describe people. Traits are cross-situation consistent and persistent features of an individual (e. g. , extroversion, passivity: many traits are within the realm of normal expression, personality is rigid, maladaptive traits in these cases. 16pf (personality factor) questionnaire by cattell adapted for this purpose: hexaco (6 factor model of personality) International personality item pool (more than 2000 items) Functioning could be egosyntonic, that is, not viewing it as problematic or impairing.
