They added the mind back to it. Skinner never doubted that we have a mind, but he doesn"t think this is important: the mind is just something we carry around. Dollard and miller laid the foundation to talk about the mental processes: they took psychoanalysis and behaviourism and stuck them together, they provided an integration of psychoanalysis and behaviourism, this is a big deal. Operant conditioning: adding or taking away rewards/punishments. The environment triggering behaviour: dollard and miller stuck the organism in the middle. The environment and behaviour gets mediated through the organism. The emphasis is on the stimulus, if you want to change the response, you have to change the stimulus. When social learning theory came along, they start to emphasize the organism. We can talk to the human and understand what they are feeling. This opens the door for cognitive theory.
