During/after wwii (when a lot of social psychology got started) Social psychology: the scientific attempt to understand how thoughts, feelings and behaviours of others are influenced by other human beings. About the thoughts, feelings (moods, emotions) and behaviours (can look at and see people doing) Trying to find answers nehind decisions we make using a scientific method (vs just people watching) Focuses on individuals within groups: we need to ask what they care about, how they think, etc. , to understand how they move in social situations. Social psychologists look at the range of how other people act. Sociological perspective: focuses more in the group/macro level/ type of outcomes. Anthropological perspective: even more broad, at the cultural level. Looking at it as cultures and conflicts in one another. Focusing on abnormalities (negative impacts) on child development, ptsd.
